The CARE Framework
  • C – Context: Provides the necessary background or scenario for the AI.
  • A – Action: Specifies the exact task the AI should perform.
  • R – Result: Describes the desired outcome or goal of the AI's action
  • E – Example: Gives a concrete example or case study to illustrate the desired output format and style.
Introduction: Our Work as Wayfinders
1
A Wayfinder Welcome
  • Quick intro & purpose: AI isn't replacing teachers , it's co-teaching with us.
  • Have participants open laptops or phones and try a CARE PROMPT
  • Example prompts:
  • Give me 3 quick, inclusive routines to refocus a restless middle school class, build community, not control in under a minute.
  • Show me fast, equitable ways for students to coach and question each other during group work so I’m not the only resource.
  • Suggest 2 AI-supported ways a student with dysgraphia can express ideas and meet standards—no shortcuts, full inclusion.
  • Turn and Table Talk. What works in the output? What's missing? What's next?
Co-Planning with AI
  • Divide into small groups (by grade or subject).
  • Each group picks a standard or lesson they're planning soon.
  • Prompt sequence (shown on screen):
  1. At as a co-teacher. My objective is ___
  1. Differentiate this lesson for struggling and advanced learners.
  1. Add an inquiry-based challenge question and an exit ticket.
  • Groups refine AI responses using CARE lens and share top takeaways.
  • Debrief: How did AI amplify or distract from your instructional purpose?
  • How satisfied are you with the output?
  • Could you use a podcast from Notebook LM to explain it to a colleague?
